Asked Questions:
Q: What do I need to sign-up?
A: Please refer to the registration web page for
details, but you will need to (1) pre-register and print 3 copies of the
registration form. (2) bring registration form copies to a registration
location at the listed date/time. (3) If first time to region 780 you
will need to bring a birth certificate or proof of age. (4) Payment (cash
or check only).
Q: Can I be on the same team as my best friend?
A: You can request a particular coach or to be placed
on the same team as your friend and we will try to accommodate your request,
BUT we can only do so if we can maintain a balanced team. We make every
attempt to create a balanced team during the formation of teams.
Q: When will we be contacted?
A: Coaches are provided their team packets at the
end of July. The coach will contact you around August 1 regarding your
first practice.
Q: When is our first practice? Where will we practice?
A: Practice will begin no sooner than August 1 and
will be arraigned by the coach. The days, time, and location of practices
will be determined by the coach.
Q: Where will my games be played?
A: Our home field is located in
the Kearny Mesa / Serra Mesa area at
the Cabrillo Heights
field located between Kearny Villa
Road / Aero Drive / Afton Road / Hurbut Street next to Angier Elementary
school. For the U6 (4-5yo) and U8 (6-7yo) players all games will be played
at the Cabrillo Heights field. All other age groups will play half of
their games at Cabrillo Heights and the other half of the games travelling
to other regions, such as Mira Mesa, North Park, Tierrasanta. Some older
age groups may also travel to San Marcos, or other similar areas.
Q: When does the season start? When is our first
game?
A: The season begins on the first Saturday following
Labor Day (Sept. 6). The game schedules created in August in coordination
with the other regions.
Q: What equipment is provided? What else do I need
to play?
A: You will be provided with a soccer jersey, shorts, and socks. You will
need to purchase shin guards for leg protection. Shin
Guards ARE REQUIRED. We recommend you purchase soccer cleats, especially
for when the grass starts getting wet. You should also purchase a soccer
ball for practices.
Q: What should I bring to practice?
A: Bring your shin guards (you won't be allowed
to practice without them), plenty of water, a soccer ball, and comfortable
clothing (preferably soccer shorts and tee-shirt). You don't need to wear
your uniform at practice.
